No problem...
Bring the playground to your house!!
What is an obstacle course?
An obstacle course is a series of challenging physical obstacles an individual, team or animal must complete. Obstacle courses can include running, climbing, jumping, crawling, swimming, and balancing.
Look around your house for everyday items you might be able to use like empty paper towel rolls, blankets, soup ladle, kitchen tongs, jump rope, etc.
Again, this is a great opportunity for you to put your creative mind to work.
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
- Crawl under or over a row of chairs.
- Crawl under a string stretched between two chair legs
- Jump into and out of a Hula-Hoop five times
- Walk on a balance board
- Ride a bike along a predetermined route
- Somersault from one point to another
Try these ideas to spice it up...
- Carry an object (It could be a ball, toy or balloon) through the obstacle course to increase the challenge
- Hold hands with a buddy from your bubble without letting go as you move through each obstacle course
- Play Red Light, Green Light When “green light!” is called, begin moving through the obstacle course. When “red light!” is called freeze – even if you’re teetering on the edge of an obstacle
- Animal Walks Try moving like an animal all the way through the obstacle course (crab walk, bear walk, inchworm)
- Speed Challenge Race against the clock as you make your way through the obstacle course, trying to achieve your fastest time or, can you try it in slow motion
- Lights Out Dim the lights and use flashlights, headlamps or glow sticks to light your way through the obstacle course
